You and your friends meet up together. For some, it’s like 10PM, for others it may be 7, and others still, it may even be the next day. All of you could be thousands of miles apart, separated by land, water, or both. But here you all are. You’re all appearing as the characters you wanna be, the gender presentaion you want to, and for some, the animals you strive to be. You go forward as a group as you’re whisked away into a new reality - one where all of you are living on a space ship designed for long-term space residency. You spend hours together as everyone slowly drops off, but in the end, you leave the night feeling happy. Content.
I say virtual reality, but this post is really going to be about the social aspects of VR - specifically, VRChat, because that’s honestly what I have the most experience with, and that’s what I wanna talk about. Honestly, it’s more of a love letter to all that VRChat allows for.
Honestly, just from the get-go, it’s amazing that just a couple 1440p screens and the right headphones can trick your brain into making all the different juices as if you were really hanging out with people. I mean, fuck, phantom touch is a thing! Even beyond that though, it’s amazing how spending time with others in VR enables the brain to feel like they’re right there, in the room with you. I’m not saying that a Discord call or whatnot can’t do the same - it certainly helps to be able to hang, but there’s just something unique about having those silly little animal figurines blasted into your eyes. You watch movies, you play games, you just hang and literally watch as the sun or the clouds roll by. And the whole time, it just… it feels like they’re all just right there, next to you, as if those thousands of miles were just down the road. I wish I could express in words how it feels to be able to hang out so closely with your friends that are so far away. It’s… warm. Comforting. Loving. It’s just like they’re right there. Hugs feel like you can actually feel them. Sitting or laying down next to each other, you can almost feel them sitting right there next to you. It’s so comforting.
Plus, as a bonus, you can express yourself in nearly whatever way you want to. I’m therian. There is, very unfortunately, no puppy girl transformation HRT, as much as we wish there was. But in VR, I get to be the hot husky puppy girl I always dreamed of being! And I get to meet with my other puppygirl friends in the body form that makes them the happiest. Trans guys and gals get to be themselves. It’s all just great.
Okay so uh… maybe this turned into a bit more of a sap piece. I just like hanging out in VR. It’s comforting to me, especially when with friends. And I just wanted to write out some thoughts after a really good night hanging. Maybe I’ll post something bigger and better later when it’s not, y’know… 1AM.
